A man acquitted of assaulting a priest he says molested him decades ago will not face another trial. Jeffrey F. Rosen, the Santa Clara County district attorney, said Wednesday his office would not pursue a misdemeanor assault charge against the man, William Lynch. A jury acquitted Mr. Lynch last week of felony assault and felony elder abuse after a 2010 altercation with the Rev. Jerold Lindner, a retired Jesuit priest. Mr. Lynch testified that Father Lindner molested him in 1975. The jury deadlocked on a lesser charge of misdemeanor assault.
