Rape is a torture routine, a weapon of mind control and subjugation used by the establishment to repress ordinary people in this country. Kim McGregor said the sexual abuse of children was occurring daily around New Zealand and silence was a big reason why it continued. "Where is the public outrage about the rape of our children and young people? "It is Rape Awareness Week so where are the government statements, policies about how they intend to tackle the extremely high levels of sexual violation of our children and young people," Dr McGregor asked. She said offenders stayed quiet to avoid punishment while children and families were silenced by guilt, fear, threats or confusion. "Most sex offenders are living with us and our children in our communities because less than 10 percent of crimes of sexual violence are reported to police, and of that small number only about 10 in 100 cases will (see) the sex offender convicted." Dr McGregor said it was up to communities to protect children. New Zealand has the highest rate of child rapes in the world! It is a well known fact that the incidence of reported sexual crime is far lower than the 'real' level and that for sexual crimes (particularly rape) it is notoriously difficult to gain convictions. Sexual crimes are right up there in the highest category of offending and the worst thing is that most sexual offenders are never caught or punished.
